Nurse clinics

Our nurses can give you a great deal of useful advice about your pets health and wellbeing, our nurse clinics run from Monday through to Saturday. If you would like to make an appointment with a nurse please phone us on 01642 488777.

Dental care

Dental care is extremely important and we would recommend that a dental care regime is started early in your pets life. We can show you the best ways and methods of protecting your pet’s teeth and can provide check-ups for older patients to see if their teeth are in good shape. Dental problems that are left can be extremely uncomfortable and may require dental treatment under a general anaesthetic.Weight management

Managing our pet’s weight can sometimes be challenging. We can provide regular weight checks, discuss your pet’s diets and nutrition and help you keep a track of their progress. We can also discuss different ways to help reduce your pet’s weight.

Geriatric checks

As your pet gets older they may require more regular trips to the vets. Pets over the age of seven are classed as senior/geriatric. The nurses at Marske Veterinary Practice can provide half yearly health checks for your pets where they can check a range of different functions and give your pet a top to tail exam. If we are concerned with any of our findings we will then refer you onto a vet.

Diabetic care

If your pet has been diagnosed with diabetes the nurses are here to help and spend time with you discussing aspects of living with a diabetic pet. We can provide demonstrations on how to give insulin, discuss their diet, and give you advice on how to monitor your pet at home and the signs to look out for if something is wrong.

Fleas and worming treatments

There are lots of different flea and worm treatments on the market and it can sometimes be quite confusing to know which ones to use, the time scales to use them and what each product is for. Giving your pets regular flea and worm treatment is both important for you and your pet and the environment. We can help you make sure your pet is getting the treatment which is effective and tailored to the individual needs

Puppies and kittens

Getting a new puppy or kitten can be a very exciting time and we want to help you give your pets the best start and provide advice to keep them happy and healthy. Whilst your new puppy or kitten is starting out we would recommend that they come and see the nurse every month until they are 6 months old. We can keep an eye on their weight, discuss neutering, talk about and administer flea and worm treatment, get them socialised by coming into the vet practice, demonstrate dental care and discuss behaviour.

Bringing your pet in for neutering can be quite a daunting experience, all of the nurses in our team can provide advice on neutering and discuss the benefits, we can also go through with you what the procedure involves and help discuss aftercare.

Rabbit care

Rabbits are increasingly popular pets, the nurses can give you advice on many aspect of their care. We can discuss their housing, caring for indoor rabbits and litter training. We can also demonstrate how to correctly handle your bunny, check their teeth and nails. We can also help with diet and talk about preventative healthcare.
